Thanks Legends, we'll be back! Visited: June 2005

We found the staff at Legends to be very friendly and accommodating.

Also, our room was spacious and clean. We would recommend staying beach side rather than garden side, it was more convienent. Also, take extra towels. That's just the way it is.

Breakfast was the best meal. However, the food was plentiful, adequate, and always served with a big smile.

We were never concerned about our safety within the boundaries of Legends. The atmosphere was laid back, polite, respectful and totally free of any prejudice.

The bottom line, it was safe, friendly, in a nice location, and with a nice beach. It was an above average place to stay.

Legends provides an excellent beach and friendly hotel staff. Visited: June 2003

Negril is the best stop in Jamaica. Legends Beach Resort is in the heart of the busy Jamaican town that has everything to offer. It is extremely recommended!

Legends is deplorable! Visited: April 2003

I would compare Legends to a really bad trucker hotel. The landscaping was overgrown and unkept. The exterior of the hotel was painted all different colors. It was done in poor taste. It was very basic. It reminded me of a really low budget $20 a night Dollar Inn (trucker motel). There was much confusion when we checked in. The hotel lobby was disorganized. The furniture in the waiting area was old and dirty. We were given a room with a plumbing problem. There was over an inch of water in the room. The room was very dark and dreery. When I pulled back the curtains to let a little light in I was greeted by cob webs. The furniture was very old. The pictures on the hotel's web site must have been taken 20 years ago. There was no closet. It was just a cubby hole with a pole hung above it to hang your clothes on. The room was very small. The beds were cement. The bathroom was okay but nothing to get excited about. We were given another room because of the plumbing problem but it was just as bad. We tried to eat at the restaurant. The food's appearance was very unappetizing. The only thing that appeared normal was the lasagna and it was grease heaven. We had taken the all inclusive plan. Good thing we eventually left because I would have starved to death. It's definately not the high class restaurant that the hotel raves about. The drinks were watered down. The restaurant tables were dirty. The restaurant staff was unprofessional in mannor and appearance. The beach area in front of the resort was dirty and very tiny. The pool was dirty. It obviously hadn't been cleaned recently. It was also very small. There was another pool accross the street for their rooms in on that side of the street but it was a busy street and not real easy to cross. We complained to management about the numerous problems we encountered and were treated rudely. The manager had a poor attitude and was extremely condescending. He accused us of being novice traveler's and said his hotel and restaurant were the best on the beach and we'd not find anything better. He nearly refused to let us leave. He charged us 1 nights hotel room and tax that was after we had pleaded with him not to charge 3 nights room and tax. This was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard of. We had reserved through a tour operator because of this we had to pay a cancel penalty. Had I walked into this hotel off the street there is no way I would have stayed here for a minute and nor would I had been charged for leaving. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone except maybe pay by the hour clientele. Never ever again not even for a minute. It should be rated 0 stars.

The service was completely lackluster. Visited: April 2003

Last year I went to Jamaica and stayed at the Negril Beach Club and had an absolute wonderful time. My friends and I had such a great experience that we chose Jamaica as our travel destination for the second year in row. To our surprise, this year was a complete and utter dissapointment. The service was completely lackluster. The resort was “overbooked” and our room was not available, but they "would try to move us" asap. Thy sent us to their sister hotel up in the cliffs for the nite. The hotel room had bugs everywhere and we woke up in the middle of the nite with ants crawling all over our faces. When we finally got to Legends the next day, our room was not ocean front as we had booked. We got a garden view across the street. At the restaurant nobody greeted us with a smile and they acted as if it was painful for them to have sat us at a table. The food was mediocre at best and hot dogs were labeled as sausage for breakfast. My biggest complaint about the hotel was the the rude and indifferent staff. Their attitude was appalling. Also, a mistake on our phone bill was made. we were charged for a two hour phone call that was never made and we had to argue with the rude and obnoxious manager for about 45 to get the ridiculous charge of two hours to at least ten min..id never stay there again, not even if it was free.

A great beach, clean rooms and friendly staff. Visited: July 2002

If you don't mind the hotel's running theme of concrete and linoleum, everything should be fine. Concrete, which seems to be Jamaica's choice of architecture, is found everywhere...down to the double beds in the rooms. The mattresses are laid on slabs of concrete, but are comfortable enough, just remember not to stub your toe! T

he rooms are simple and clean, with no tv, no bathtubs...just showers. Reading some of the other reviews on various hotels, even 5 stars ones, I found it odd that some had trouble with hot or running water, cockroaches and fresh towels. We didn't have any problems like that at Legends.

One thing, I caution purchasing the all inclusive plan, which many guests at the hotel seemed to have purchased. We had dinner at Legends on our first night, and it was probably the worst we had our whole stay in Negril.

For a better, economic and tastier deal on Seven Mile Beach, I recommend "Errol's" for their chicken patties (real chunks of chicken, not the pasty mush that vendors sell); "Da Bus", less than 100 yards away, they had the best jerk chicken and homemade sauce with fresh cut french fries; and for the adventurous, "Uprisings". It was delicious and cheap homecooked Jamaican food (if you don't mind the outside urinal in plain view)

The beach was absolutely beautiful, I will never forget the white sand and clear water! Legends, all in all, was a great deal for the buck. My boyfriend and I had a great time in Negril!

A nice hotel in an excellent location! Visited: March 2002

If you are looking for a good location, on an incredible beach but near all the action, then Legends is where you want to stay.

The staff was extremely friendly, and would do my laundry anytime I asked for very little money. They also brought me ice, upgraded our room three days later when asked - for no charge. Those were examples of how they went out of their way to accommodate.

Legends is great for budget minded people who just want to have a great time. I didn't eat at Legends except for two breakfasts diuring the whole three weeks I was here. There were too many great choices around for places to eat (for much cheaper).

The Legends is not such a fancy hotel, but the staff is very nice, the rooms are clean, and the location is great. It is near all the action.

I would recommend Legends for a great budget stay.
