Half Moon was paradise. Visited: November 2006

This place was just great. The Hibiscus suite was super. It was just ten feet from the water, and maybe 20 from the pool.

Also, the service was great, and the food was wonderful. Make sure you go to the Sugar Mill. There were a million things to do, but this was our relaxing place.

All year when we travel, it's Disney or sight seeing. Here, we just relax. It is very expensive, there's no kidding about that. However, I have been here three times, and have never been disappointed.

We are going for the third time! Visited: November 2006

The resort is absolutely great. I understand the queen stays here when in Jamaica, and Jack and Jackie Kennedy stayed for a month when they were married.

The Hibscus suite is 10 feet from the water and 20 feet from the pool. The food is great, and the staff is very friendly and always have smiles on their faces.

The swim with the dolphins is fabulous. It is pricy, but you feel very special.

I like to just relax when we are here. I go on many vacations a year, and we are always on the go with the other vacations. This place is like Heaven to me. I would go every year.

We are going again in November 2006. Enjoy!

Half Moon was amazing, beautiful and relaxing. Visited: November 2005

We just got home from an all-inclusive platinum seven-day stay at Half Moon. What an incredible resort with all the Jamaican charm we could imagine.

The accommodations were outstanding. I had never done an all-inclusive anywhere, and everything was top self. The employees went out of their way to make us comfortable. It was like no other resort I have ever seen.

We had a six-room suite that was steps from the Caribbean. This was a major deluxe resort. I will remember this vacation forever. There was so much to do and see (or not - your choice!).

If you like drinks and food, I would do the all-inclusive at Half Moon, as it could get pricy otherwise.

If you are looking for a resort in Jamaica--this is it. You will not be unhappy a bit. Go and enjoy!

Half Moon was amazingly beautiful. Visited: October 2004

I stayed at Half Moon while attending a conference and I was totally amazed at the vastness of the property.

Lizeeta, Anthony and Annete (my cook, butler and housekeeper in Royal Villa 57 - Ixora) were absolutely wonderful and made me feel at home immediately.

I will certainly return to Jamaica and Half Moon and bring the family next time to really get an opportunity to take advantage of all that it had to offer.

Half Moon was extremely safe and secure - at least I felt that way while I was here - and it was wonderful to take an evening stroll or a drive in your golf-cart or on your pedal cycle around the 400-acre property.

Dining was beautiful - especially on the night of the lunar eclipse - I know they had nothing to do with it, but the Sea Grape Restaurant's al fresco atmosphere certainly lended itself to an awesome view of the sky and the stars each night. Basil, the Maitre d', was pleasant and spent time talking with me about many things.

I know you will enjoy a stay at Half Moon!

The beach was beautiful, but the staff needs improvement. Visited: February 2003

We just returned from a week at the beautiful Half Moon. Our three-bedroom villa was tastefully decorated and the housekeeper was wonderful.

My main complaint is that we made reservations (and received confirmation) for everything (dinner, spa, golf, etc) three months before our trip, but upon arrival we discovered that our reservations were not there. Also before arrival, the staff never responded to any email we sent; we always had to call. We were told we would have private car transfers from the airport; upon arrival we were told there was only the shuttle bus. Once there, we found the concierge was not helpful. They didn't even know the correct hours of their own restaurants. The employees in the shops were rude.

The best parts of Half Moon are the lovely beach, the Spa, scuba diving and the restaurant staff. The waiters were wonderful with our small children. The food was delicious.

While we did enjoy our stay, we will still find another place for our next vacation.

It was amazing - except for the rooms. Visited: November 2002

We loved the Half Moon for the most part. The room was the only disappointment - a Jr. Suite. It seemed a bit "mildewy", and could use some updating.

The grounds were beautiful, the pools were great and the beach was as good as you could get on this coast. It was pricy, of course, but good.

The food was amazing - especially the Sugar Mill. Service was impeccable - I almost felt guilty. My best memory is having breakfast with no one else around overlooking the beach and water with a fantastic waiter near one of the pools.

From Seattle, Jamaica is a bit far with an infant, so I think I'll choose closer next time. but we won the trip for free, so what can you do?

Half Moon was true paradise. Visited: June 2002

My husband and I stayed at the Half Moon and loved it. We are planning a trip back this May.

The service was amazing and the staff went out of their way to please us. The beaches were perfect and large so we didn't have to worry about getting out early to get a good spot or a lounge chair - there are plenty available.

The food was all fine dining, even breakfast (from The Seagrape) which was set up on our balcony overlooking the beautiful blue water. Everything was exactly how it would be at the restaurant - nothing missing. The Sugar Mill was like dining in Manhattan (the host was very pleasant).

The only slight complaint we had was that the room was a bit old (junior suite), we did visit other rooms and they were in better shape. We loved it so much that the room did not faze us. They even had a fully stocked bar, not just the local alcoholic beverages.

The Spa was as expected - great. We even rented a golf cart which guests could use to view the property. What more can I say, we loved it!

Enjoyed a wonderful beach vacation. Visited: September 2001

My husband and I had a wonderful time when we stayed at Half Moon. We stayed at one of the suites right outside of their private beach.

We went horseback riding at the beach and in the ocean, played golf, and of course, sunbathed at the pools and beach.

The spa and fitness facilities were great - they even had tennis instructions and a golf academy. Dining was always a pleasure. Their restaurants offered outdoor seating so we dined under the stars every night, and we never had enough lobster and banana colada!

Half Moon Club was "no problem, mon"! Visited: August 2001

We stayed in the Villas for a week. It was absolutely fabulous! We were provided a maid, a butler and a cook. We also had a private pool. It was like paradise.

The accommodations were fantastic. The beach was wonderful. The staff made sure we had every need taken care of. We dined on fresh lobster in the evenings, and enjoyed a hot breakfast every morning. Our butler, Ricky, was the best!

Amazing natural beauty! Visited: July 2001

This property was the best Caribbean property I have ever seen. If you enjoy the feel of a real Caribbean resort and not that of major hotel chains, this is for you.

The property grounds are so well maintained that you feel miles away from it all, but with all the comforts you would expect from a 4-diamond resort. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and pampered. We had an amazing suite with an oceanview. The rooms were immaculate. The bell staff was very helpful. The hotel staff was courteous and attentive. The amenities in the rooms were unbelievable.

Whatever you wanted was, "no problem mon." The food in the restaurants was wonderful. The service in the restaurants was elegant and correct. There was a dress code restricting shorts for dinner.

The Spa was great. We got the spa package and do you ever get spoiled. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. I can't wait to go back next year. I strongly recommend the packages they are a great value for the dollar.

I have visited most of the northern Caribbean and enjoyed this island tremendously. The people of the island really do want you to come back.

Beautiful grounds, but rooms need improvement Visited: June 2001
Posted by sagriff707
We just returned from a 5-day stay at Half Moon. The grounds and the beach were absolutely breathtaking. We thoroughly enjoyed the facilities and the Seagrape restaurant.

However, our room was not up to par. Some of the tile was chipped and broken, and the tub would always fill with water as we showered. The mosquitoes were terrible and we even had ants in our room. Although most of the staff was responsive and accommodating, some were a sluggish in responding to our needs. The personnel who worked in the shops attached to the main lobby were downright mean.

We took advantage of the spa facilities and loved every minute of it. Overall, the trip was good and we will probably go back. Mainly because we toured some of the villas on the grounds and they were in better condition than the standard rooms. Also, now we know what to expect and how everything works.

A very special place! Visited: May 2001

Just returned from a wonderful week at Half Moon Bay. We fell head over heels for this place and are returning in September. We travel quite a bit and found the staff to be the friendliest we have come across!

We had a superior room with a king-sized bed and French doors that opened up to the beach. It was perfect. We will try the villas (absolutely beautiful) when we return with a larger group.

The property is breathtaking and the grounds are always clean and well groomed. We enjoyed walking all around and at times felt like we were in the jungle! We have only been home four days and cannot wait to return—only 3 more months!

Many better choices are available elsewhere. Visited: February 2001
Posted by warner_fite
We stayed in adjoining upstairs/downstairs rooms and found them to be pretty tired. There were several broken items in the room that were never fixed during our weeklong stay. The food was pretty mediocre (although the Sugar Mill is nice) and the service was beyond slow, even according to island standards.

Most importantly to us, the children's programs were just not as advertised. The kids’ area was the smallest that we have seen in the Caribbean, and when staff members did not show up, the events were just cancelled.

The pluses included the general oceanside setting, the convenience to the Montego Bay airport, and the great fitness center.

Fantastic place for couples, families...something for all! Visited: January 2000
Posted by ATraveler
My extended family (8 adults, 4 children - all under 6!) went for Christmas and New Years and could not have been happier with our choice! We stayed in a 6 bedroom villa, not on the beach but very close. Our staff were superb and so kind. Our cook, Beverly, prepared the most wonderful authentic Jamaican cuisine. Our kind bulter, Warrell, took care of everything for us.

The tennis, golf, riding, and fitness facilities were wonderful. The Sugar Mill Restaurant was our favorite - we found the setting of the Sea Grape Terrace to be nice, but the service was poor. We WILL go back to Jamaica and the Half Moon!

Great place for couples! Visited: October 1999
Posted by ATraveler
This was a wonderful vacation. We were only there for 3 nights/4 days, but were able to see everything. We were upgraded to a suite room that was right on the beach - our own private little beach! Two words - room service. We had breakfast every morning and it was brought right to our patio dining area. They set up with a tablecloth and even my New York Times! A high class place - will definitely return.

One bit of advice - don't go in October. The rainy season - it rained each afternoon, but it was still beautiful!

Home away from home! Visited: November 1999
Posted by kovan25
Basically, I've grown up in this place. Every year, since the day I was born, my family returns to the Half Moon twice a year for Christmas and March Break. Since, it's become a home away from home.

The staff are wonderful, the layout is magnificent, and the water is gorgeous. Whether you're 10 or 100, the Half Moon has something for you. It's beautiful golf course always keeps my father occupied while the Shopping Village is frequented by the ladies in the family.

I couldn't suggest a greater place on earth to visit. Each trip brings me closer to the idea that paradise is right within my grasp!
