It was okay. Visited: February 2008

The resort staff and the people in Jamaica were great! The rooms were okay. There was a lot of wear, and it was a little muggy.

The food was awesome! There were five places to eat on the location which offered something for everyone. I am a very picky eater, and did not have a bad meal the entire time I was here (six days).

Now, for the bad side. The beach was terrible - for two reasons.

First, the area to "swim" in was so small, we could not even get in deep enough to be waist deep.

Secondly, there were locals floating in the water all day long apparently selling drugs. This was a family resort, and I saw at least five "deals" made while I was here. That is unacceptable! They were very hard to ignore. They would sit there, and float, and stare at you until they made some kind of communication with you. This was not what I wanted. I wanted to be left alone in the water.

Everything else was great. However, I will never come back here because of the vibe those men gave off. There was lots of pool space, but forget about the beach!

This was the best holiday ever. Visited: July 2006

The hotel was very clean. They had a lovely pool and beach, also. The staff was very friendly, and the "fun pals" were excellent!

In addition, the food was lovely, and I enjoyed the drinks that were available through the whole day and night. it was the perfect holiday for relaxing. Everything was provided. There were activities for guests of all age - like kids' club and fun pool activites.

I would definitely suggest this resort to others. It was worth every bit of money. I would love to return.

This is an excellent family resort. Visited: March 2006

This resort is brilliant if you have children. The children will be kept busy. The evening entertainment is excellent, the food is good with plenty to choose from, and staff all around the resort is friendly, pleasant, and happy to help in any way they can.

The accommodation is spacious and clean, and the grounds are well kept. Towels are provided for beach and pool use, you just help yourself from big bins around the complex which are full of fresh clean towels.

There is plenty of choice of food, and a range of different restaurants available - 24 hours a day. The kids can help themselves to drinks, popcorn and ice cream from machines whenever they want, which is a big hit. Also, the bars are open 24 hours for any other drinks you want.

I just have two pieces of advice:

If you have young children, try not to take a flight so you arrive at night. The bus trip from the airport is about two-and-a-half hours long, and the roads are not great. So, it's a pretty rough trip and can be an unnerving first experience to see Jamaica at night.

Secondly, everything is priced in US dollars, so take US currency, not Jamaican currency. It will make life a lot easier.

Overall, this is an excellent resort for families. I highly recommend it.

It was awesome Visited: February 2005

We arrived in Montego Bay, and very quickly were put in a van and taken to the resort. It was about a 2 1/2 hour ride but it was nice to get to see some of the island, and the driver was very informative.

We arrived at Beaches Boscobel and were greeted with a towel and drinks. We just had an awesome time, from banana boating and swimming to all the other activites during the day, it was awesome. We went on one excursion which was horseback riding. It is highly recommended. If you are interested, go to Hooves.

The nightly entertainment was great. The fun pals were the best dancers ever (Robert, Dwayne, Acleish, Nick....you won't be forgotten). All the staff - from the water sport guys and bartenders to the fun pals and camera men -everyone was so nice and fun to be with.

The food was awesome. The slushies, ice cream and popcorn available all day was a big hit for the kids. The weather was good, and the music was great - a band played almost every night. We were there for Valentine's Day and they tried to make it really special for everyone.

We can't wait to go back!

It seemed very childish, and would not be good for teens. Visited: March 2004

I stayed at the Boscobel Resort with my family in March of 2004. I have one teenage daughter, and a teenage son. My wife and I were very disappointed with the resort.

It was small compared to the usual resorts we normally stay at. The food was okay, and the people were friendly. We were planning to golf every day, but the weather was too hot, and we got bored of golf. Too much is too much! Although, the golf course was beautiful.

My teens were very annoyed with all the children and childlike activites and games. They said it was like a week of preschool or daycare. My daughter and son were bored out of their minds, whining, and ended up sleeping most of the vacation. It was a waste of money to stay inside!

It was also very expensive. To fly from Houston, I was outraged by the resort compared to the price. We payed $7,600 for the four of us! That is outrageous!

Family resorts are great for young kids, but I would definitely not recommend this resort for families with teens.

My husband and I, with a group of 16, just got back from Beaches Boscobel this last Saturday. This was the best vacation any of us had ever been on!

I got married here and everything was perfect! The wedding coordinator and staff made it absolutely beautiful. Everything was so organized and put together so nicely.

When we were here, the resort was 30% full, so we had the whole resort to ourselves! I did not find that there were a lot of locals on the resort. The food was excellent and the service couldn't have been better.

When we arrived, they upgraded us to an oceanfront room, which was really nice. We had a fully stocked bar and refrigerator. The only negative experience I had of the trip was that our air conditioning didn't work very well in our room. It wasn't a huge deal for us, though.

The funpals were great! They provided very entertaining shows, were very personable and always made a point to get everyone involved. They were awesome dancers, too! All of the staff was so nice and friendly.

We can't wait to go back - we are hoping for our five-year anniversary. I would recommend this resort to anyone! There were not that many kids running around, and there were all ages of people.

If you want a relaxing vacation with lots to eat and drink and tons of options for activities - this is the place to go.

This was the best vacation I have ever had! Visited: September 2003
Posted by kandies69921
I have been on many family vacations, and many vacations with just my husband. Out of all the places we have ever visited, I daresay, this was by far the best! It was far more impressive than Iberostar, Cameleon, or Allegro.

The service was the best! All of the workers were very polite and went out of their way to make sure even the most stubborn people were having the best time.

The beach was very impressive and the water was as crystal blue as if you had dyed it. It was fabulous! The snorkeling and scuba diving was really good, too. I do have to say that the snorkeling at Turks and Caicos and Cancun was better, but it was still really enjoyable.

The food was the best! I have never stayed at a resort where the food was this good.

Overall, I would go back to Beaches Boscobel any day! I'd be back on a plane if I had my way. It wasn't the cheapest place, but it was definitely worth every penny.

A tip if you're planning to travel around Jamaica: Always, and I repeat, always, make sure you have extra one dollar bills or fives on you wherever you go - especially if you are going on excursion trips!

They don't require extra money, but they would really, really appreciate it if you would tip them so they can earn a little extra money. When I say they, I mean, the taxi drivers, bus drivers and tour guides.

Occasionally there are people who will sell you drinks, bottled water, and bottled soft drinks, and you don't really want to be stuck breaking large bills, and sometimes they don't have enough money to give you change for what you are purchasing if the bill is too big!

Beaches Boscobel was an absolutely amazing property. Visited: July 2003
Posted by dtassa
My husband and I spent our seven-night honeymoon at this property and I must say it was indeed amazing.

The staff was very friendly, and the Funpals were great with the nightly activities on stage. At the pool bar, we encountered O'Brian, who made our time at the bar worth talking about. Also, Garfield at reception was very helpful.

The food was great. We always looked forward to the next meal and there were enough dining options.

I am a hotel employee and look for the highest standards wherever I go and I must admit, though not the best, I think for a new hotel they are doing great.

My only disappointment was the fact that there were too many locals who flooded the hotel on the weekend. Maybe management needs to look at making the day passes more expensive.

Taking a hotel taxi into Ocho Rios was US$40, while an ordinary taxi was JM$40, which was less than US$1.00. I will not recommend this method though, since these taxis were usually loaded and made the trip very uncomfortable.

We will definitely return to Beaches Boscobel.

This is a great place for singles too! Visited: July 2003

After having spent the first six days of an eight-day Jamaican vaction in sub-par accommodations, some members of our group moved down the road to Beaches Boscobel. First, middle and lasting impression were "wow"!

The deluxe family room easily slept four people, and was laid out to feel as though we were in a suite, not a hotel room.

The food was exceptional. As I was only here two nights, I only ate at two of the restaurants. The buffet exceeded my expectations, and the Italian restaurant was as good as most in Philadelphia. I had fish both nights and it was excellent. My friends had everything from rack of lamb to steak and pasta, all of which they enjoyed.

The bars made a good drink and mixed them as strong or as weak as you wanted. Being a wine drinker, I was not disappointed. The selection was limited to California or French, both were very palatable.

Also, the service, was excellent. We never had to wait for a drink, or a table at dinner. I stopped by the desk to ask rate of occupancy the hotel was running, thinking it must have been low to get such good service, they were at 80%.

Finally, I know this was a family resort, but the presence of children did not impede on the single people or lifestyle. The kids in the resort were so occupied with their activities, the adults were free to relax. Of the four single adults who ventured out to Beaches, all four want to return a.s.a.p.

I would recommend Beaches Boscobel without a doubt! Visited: May 2003
Posted by vasquea
My daughters and I went to Beaches Boscobel in May 2003. The only negative thing I must start out with was the ride from the airport to the resort, very long and bumpy.

Besides that, I would recommend Beaches Boscobel without a doubt. The customer service was number one! The staff was phenomenal. The grounds were beautiful and very clean. I was really impressed by the fun club (I believe that is what they were called). They were constantly entertaining the children from all ages from first thing in the am until late evening.

When we arrived, we were definitely catered to. The restaurants were really cool looking, the food was good, and the service was phenomenal.

Not only did they entertain the kids, but there was also entertainment for the adults. The night clubs were jamming and the piano bar was entertaining. They had family karoake night that was so much fun.

This was definitely the place to go for a family vacation. If you are looking for a great time for both adults and kids, you must check out Beaches Boscobel. There was so much entertainment and amenities that you really need a week plus to describe. Have fun!

Ms. Pallozzi's review and comments about Beaches Boscobel are not accurate. There is No Water Skiing, no restaurant called Allegros and, to my knowledge, Continental Breakfast is not available as Room Service. Whilst she may not have heard any complaints we heard a number of complaints on our visit to Beaches Boscobel over the New Year period. I am much more inclined to agree with Ms. Mocks review. As Ms. Pallozzi is a professional Cruise Line Agent, I am surprised that she has gotten her facts so wrong. Thank you for your time

Very disappointed in Beaches Boscobel. Visited: December 2002
Posted by mmock111
We were very disappointed in the resort overall. The beach (especially for a company called Beaches) was quite small and during our stay was terribly overcrowded. The resort is not brand-new as advertised, but a refurbished old Playboy Mansion. Many items were out of order including the main fountain that our room overlooked. We had no hot water for two nights in a row and found the food to be mediocre at best.

Be advised that there is no water skiing. We would not recommend visiting the petting zoo, as we found two dead animals in the cages. After being open for over six months there were still numerous potted plants lying about that had not been planted. Locals are sold inexpensive day passes, so be prepared to share your expensive holiday with people that have paid a pittance to share the amenities. Considering the effort that it takes to get there and the poor overall quality of the resort, we felt that it was a waste of time and money. This resort did not, in our opinion, live up to the image that Beaches/Sandals portrays in their advertising.

I can't wait to come back to Beaches Boscobel. Visited: September 2002
Posted by russell_smith
I have read good reviews and bad reviews about this location. The good reviews only tell you half how good it really is. The bad reviews seem to have come from people who either demand something be done right now or who wouldn't be happy no matter what was done.

You have to remember in Jamaica things come soon - and soon is relative. The other thing to remember is that the people who work there are people too. Talk to them, say good morning, joke around a little. If you leave this hotel withouth knowing the names of some of the people who work here, you might not have enjoyed your stay nearly as much as you could have.

One night my wife wasn't feeling well while we were dining at one of the restaurants on the property. They fixed our dinner up to go back to our room for us. The next day, no fewer than six people asked if she was feeling better. None of these people were at the restaurant. They told us that they "heard" she wasn't feeling well and they hoped she was doing better. That is because we cared about the people who worked there they in turned cared about us.

Jamaica is all about respect. In fact, you hear that a lot. Someone will come up and just say respect and put out their hand to you. You are supposed to say respect back to them. This is a deep Jamaican tradition.

I love all of the people at Beaches Boscobel and I can't wait to see them all again. Ignore the small stuff and enjoy the resort. Say "hi" to people and see what happens. After all, only you can ruin or let something ruin your vacation. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great time and I really like being treated like a king!

Respect - Beaches Boscobel! I can't wait to see you again!

A great family vacation! There was so much to do, so little time! Visited: July 2002
Posted by Kelly_wiere
We just returned two days ago and I want to be one of the first to say "great job" to Beaches Boscobel (Opened July 1, 2002).

My husband and two children (5 and 7) had an easy, fun-filled vacation. This was our first all-inclusive with the children. My husband and I have been to five Sandals and Super-Clubs, so I can compare my experience somewhat to past locations.

First, I have to say that this was the easiest vacation we have ever had with the kids. That alone was hard to achieve. We traveled all the way from Calififornia to get here!

The rooms were beautiful! They were just like the drawings. And everything worked and was very clean! There really wasn't a bad room. This was the first time in my life that I didn't have them show me a few rooms before settling down. The first one was great. It was near the kid's pool water slide (great), restaurants, Kids camp, entertainment etc.

My kids weren't too into the camp, because this was our time as a family. But, by mid-week, they occasionally joined in camp activities when they got to tired of us! That was when we chose to scuba dive or have a dinner at the adult's only restaurant. Scuba was okay. We actually had more fun snorkeling of the coast with the kids!

The staff was very nice. We made sure to be the same. Their jobs were very tough. At the time of arrival, we got our room within 15 minutes. That was an all-inclusive record - not to mention they were 100% booked at the time! We did hear from others who weren't as happy with their room timing. But the management went out of their way to satisfy even the unhappy customer (even if they were very rude).

The only reason this was not a five-star ranking was because this was such a new facility they were still learning the ropes a bit as far a maps, activity times, etc. And, the restaurants had some work to do as far as wait time between courses and selection, and they could use more umbrellas at the beach. But, overall ait was a B+.

Best Family Vacation Ever!!! Visited: February 1999
Posted by Beachfront
Had trouble finding a resort that catered to families of 5. After much research we booked at Boscobel Beach. It was the best vacation our family has ever had. Our 3 children were entertained non-stop. The food was great. The staff were always friendly and helpful. My oldest enjoyed all the unlimited water sports, the little one's loved the crafts and kid's club.

As far as the 2 hour bus ride from the airport, it was great!! We had our own cab and our driver was the best tour guide ever. That was my only concern when we booked. The trip was so rewarding that we came home and got 5 other families together and we are all going back end of January 2000. We can't wait to get back to Jamaica!!!!

As a resort owner in Canada, I can tell you that we checked out every aspect of this place. We rate it a 10 for families!!!

Great Family Vacation! Visited: November 1999

Boscobel Beach is a great place for a family vacation! The staff is wonderful, the food is really good, there is tons to do and the rooms are nice. I especially loved the wine and cheese buffet by the pool every afternoon around 4:00. I'd go back in a second, but wish they'd build an airport in Ocho Rios!
